So you are probably stuck in your house (or stuck at work all weekend like me), so why not enjoy the wind, rain, and power outages with some music. Here is my hurricane playlist.

3) Run for the Hills - Iron Maiden
4) Miami 2017 - Billy Joel

The Day That I Was 12...
Nobody that knows me would be surprised to know that yesterday was a very special day for me. Baseball has always been important to me. More so the Yankees and Derek Jeter have been important to me.
Maybe thats not healthy. Maybe I should save all my worries for actual things of consequence. I do have perspective of what is actually important in the world, but I think that is exactly why baseball...

You Spin Me Right Round....
Last night I got home from Inception and wanted to write this right away, but I decided not to because it would have been completely incoherent. I would have tried to say too much at one time.
I have digested and am ready to write about it.
Christopher Nolan has completely cemented himself as the best filmmaker of what I am going to call the smart action movie. Films that are equal part...

Your Attention Please, Ladies and Gentleman,...
The longtime PA announcer for Yankee Stadium, Bob Sheppard, passed away today at the age of 99. He is deeply ingrained in some of the greatest memories I have as a child going to the old ballpark. Although he never hit a homer or struck anyone out, he was as much a part of the Yankee teams I watched growing up as Derek Jeter or Bernie Williams. I will miss him, just as I miss the stadium, as a...

Journalist Professionalism →
Have not made a sports post in a while. From one of my favorite sports blogs. I’m not saying the guy who emailed Bill Conlin was right, but as a professional writer you should respond to criticism with something well thought out and somewhat respectful to your a reader or do not respond at all. There is no reason to be so very unprofessional. It is not a blog, you are not a fan, you are...

Rumors of remakes and reboots are all over the place right now, but this one has to be the most min-blowing/exciting that’s surfaced maybe ever.

David Brown Passes Away →
In case you didn’t notice, I like Jaws. My blog is named after it. It is the movie that first sparked my interest to work in the film industry. One of the major driving forces behind bringing it to the screen passed away today. If this man had not been teamed up with Richard Zanuck, what a different world the film industry would be today. For better or for worse, this is one of the most...

Hurt So Good
I finally got around to seeing The Hurt Locker last night. I had high expectations from what I had heard about it and it delivered.
I really enjoyed the film from start to finish, there are staggering and moving images from start to finish that put you on the edge of your seat.
I have steered away from the Iraq War movies because they have been mostly sub par and overly preachy. This film is...
Mini-Reviews
So I’ve seen a bunch of movies lately and I’m gonna do very short reviews of what I’ve seen. Many of them are older but it is my blog so I’ll do what I want.
Up in the Air- Great movie. It is that simple, every part was really well executed. All the major characters were written and acted well. My favorite movie of the year.

This is one of the best articles I’ve read about the general classic film industry in a while and the price you pay to get exactly what you thought you wanted. Great stuff from my one of my favorite film critics.
Reviews Coming
I went on a theater going rampage recently so reviews will be forthcoming, whether you are interested or not. The three films I most recently saw were Up in the Air (which I saw a while back), Invictus, and Youth in Revolt. I will probably see The Lovely Bones and/or The Book of Eli shortly after they come out so reviews on them will be coming as well.
It's 2010...Where are the flying cars?
So by 2010 we figured there would be terminators or at the very least johnny 5s running around. But there are not, life isn’t all that much different, outside of gadgets, then it was in 1999 when the world was going to end at midnight. We aren’t living on Mars or being retina scanned everywhere we go.

New Years Eve
Normally I am not excited for New Years. I always find stuff to do on it but it is never nearly as fun or exciting as it is made out to be. I’m not sure what I am doing for it yet, I have not made up my mind but I’m really looking forward to putting 10 at the end of my dates and such. 2009 was a nice year for a while but there was a lot that I’m looking forward to putting behind...

Dexter: Season 4
Ok. I normally would not write about a season of a TV show until the season is complete and this season still has three hours and a lot of things to wrap up. That being said I just finished watching the 9th and newest episode of this season and I am left in amazement. It had by far the most “Oh Shit!” moments since the first season.
Coming in to this season I had high hopes to see...

The Matt Who Stares at Goats
I was extremely intrigued by the trailers and commercials for The Men who Stare at Goats.
The film is a semi-true tale of a band of psychic soldiers trained in the post vietnam era and then disbanded. Lyn Cassidy (George Clooney) was the most talented of all the “Jedi Warriors” as they are called led by an eccentric leader (Jeff Bridges). The movie follows a journalist, Bob Wilton...

A little premature because the decade hasn’t ended yet, but it was an interesting list. I haven’t seen most of the foreign movies on the list. I haven’t seen #1. Some of the choices were really… interesting. I’ll respond at the end of the list.

The Invention of Lying Review
I have great respect for Ricky Gervais. The last two projects he wrote and directed The Office and Extras are some of the best comedic television to come out of Britain since the Flying Circus. Also his series of podcasts are by far some of the funniest things I have ever heard.
The man understands comedy, especially satire and does not pull punches. That is certainly the case with his latest...

Derek Jeter, The Pride of the Yankees
A lot has been said about Derek Jeter lately. As he sat on the precipice of history people from all over have been singing his praises.
Well, I really don’t have much to add to be honest. I don’t know him personally. I did meet him once, but that was just a quick autograph. I have no real story or moment to discuss.
I can’t say he was always my favorite Yankee, in fact during...
